THE 'IMAGE OF CHRIST' is DISCIPLESHIP!
"If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory." Colossians 3:1-4 NKJV
We all know the phrase, "In His steps" or "What would Jesus do?" There are piles of New Testament passages that speak to this. Somewhere through the years, the western church has lost much of it's way by thinking that discipleship is all about being a student of God's Word, for one to be able to properly exegete His Word. Mark Twin probably sums it up best for all of us when he said, "It ain't those parts of the Bible that I can't understand that bother me. It is the parts that I do understand."
What does it mean we are to love our enemies when they have just malitiously betrayed us? What does it mean to walk in meekness in a 'dog eat dog' culture? What am I supposed to do with the parable of the Good Samaritan, or Paul's writing to the Philippians (2:4), "Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others." when a homeless person walks up to you?
DISCIPLESHIP IS WALKING IN A MANNER OF THE LIGHT AND LIFE OF JESUS CHRIST, IT ALSO MEANS BEING A DISCIPLE MAKER.
This site is an exploration of what it has meant for my wife and I to walk in the manner of our calling, to be the Imago Christi. We are not perfect and do not wish anyone put us on a pedastal, for we will soon fall off of it. But in all our years as missionaries, we have learned some valuable lessons from our Lord, and continue to learn from Him as we attempt to "walk as Jesus walked." BIOGRAPHY of Kevin & Jody Haislip
"Thank you for teaching me valuable knowledge of the Bible. My life will never be the same again." Changhong, April 2015
